How Hey Cupid! handles biometric data.

When biometric data is collected

Hey Cupid! collects biometric data only as part of identity verification. There are two verification tiers:

• Tier 1 — selfie + liveness check. A single still image plus a short liveness payload.
• Tier 2 — government ID match. A photo of a government-issued ID plus a fresh selfie compared by the verification vendor.

You choose which tier to submit. You can use the product at the tier you've completed. You can stop at Tier 1 if you prefer not to submit ID.

What "biometric data" means here

• The selfie image used for the liveness/match decision.
• The liveness motion payload (the short sequence of micro-movements during the capture).
• The face vector / template returned by the verification vendor for the matching step.
• The ID document image (Tier 2 only).

Purpose

The single purpose is the verification decision: confirming that the person creating the account is a real human (Tier 1) or that they are who they claim to be (Tier 2). We don't use biometric data for advertising, profile matching, behavioral analytics, or any AI training of any kind.

Retention

• Selfie + liveness payload: deleted within 24 hours of the verification decision.
• ID document image (Tier 2): deleted within 7 days of the verification decision.
• Verification result (pass/fail + tier): retained for account life plus 2 years after closure.
• Face vector / template: never persisted by Hey Cupid! after the decision; the vendor's retention is governed by their contract.

Disclosures

• Submitted to the verification vendor for the match decision only.
• Disclosed to law enforcement only when compelled by valid legal process.
• Never sold. Never shared with marketing partners. Never used in any third-party data product.

Your rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your biometric data at any time by emailing privacy@heycupid.dating. Deletion requests are honored within 30 days. If you delete biometric data while your account is active, your verification level resets and you can re-verify from a clean state.

Vouch recordings

Vouch videos recorded by friends and family are stored as media but are not biometric data under the meaning of this notice. They aren't run through face recognition or any matching algorithm. See the recorder consent for how those recordings are handled.
